Green Mountain Adaptive Sports is a Vermont-based non-profit founded in 2010 on the belief that access to sports and recreational programs are a powerful means for people with disabilities to develop independence as well as physical and mental well-being. We focus on getting people out and having fun. We value the effect our programs have on entire families.
We further our mission through these services and activities:
- Providing financial assistance for Vermonters with disabilities to expand access to sports and recreation.
- Hosting special events that bring adaptive athletes together with coaches, families, and friends.
- Supporting advanced training to coaches working in adaptive programs.
- Assisting partner programs in acquiring specialized adaptive equipment.
- Awarding grants to support advanced training to adaptive athletes participating in competitive sports programs.
Three C’s: Connections, Community, Collaboration:
- Connecting and partnering
- Creating an Inclusive Community
- Collaborating with Mutual Respect
Green Mountain Adaptive Sports is committed to a world with full inclusion of a diversity of abilities, cultures, ethnicities, genders, religions, sexual orientations and identities. We believe we all have a responsibility to help make the world a better place for marginalized communities. It is central to our mission and we actively strive for representation and inclusion in our small Vermont organization, our partners, and our communities.
