FAQs

Are my listings eligible?

Listings can be considered as

  • Always Eligible: Eligible listings include OTC devices, supplies and other products that are for medical care and are primarily for a medical purpose.
  • Dual-Purpose: Some listings are considered dual-purpose. These may have both a medical purpose and a personal hygiene, cosmetic or general health purpose. They must be used to treat a medical condition and cannot be used to improve or maintain general health unless prescribed by a licensed health care professional to treat a specific illness, condition or injury.
  • Ineligible: Listings that are used for general health, cosmetic, or personal hygiene purposes are not reimbursable. Typically, these are not referred to as medicines or drugs and are not recognized to treat a medical condition. Expenses that are not reimbursable as medical care under IRS Code Section 213(d) and related sections of the federal tax code are ineligible. [1]

As part of onboarding our expert team can identify which products are eligible and which may be dual purpose, which require the shopper to have a Letter of Medical Necessity (LOMN) to use their HSA/FSA funds. We generate a LOMN at checkout if needed.

How easy is it to integrate with Amplife?

When your Standard Listing is submitted, it’s automatically reviewed to be considered as Always Eligible, Dual-Purpose, or Ineligible to accept HSA & FSA payments.

Always Eligible listings do not require a Letter of Medical Necessity (LOMN), the customer can checkout directly with their HSA / FSA card, and if it has UPC/GTIN codes, can be added to the SIGIS Always Eligible Products List.

Dual-Purpose listings do require a LOMN, the customer can checkout directly with their HSA / FSA card, and receive their LOMN within the checkout process. However, these listings are ineligible to be added to the SIGIS Always Eligible Products List.

Ineligible listings cannot accept HSA / FSA payments.

Is there a cost to accept HSA/FSA funds?

HSA/FSA Always Eligible listings do not have any costs to accept funds besides purchasing Universal Product Codes (UPC)/ Global Trade Item Number (GTIN) codes.

HSA/FSA Dual-Purpose listings require a Letter of Medical Necessity (LOMN) for the customer to complete the purchase with their HSA & FSA funds.

The LOMN is eligible for similar listings in your offerings but the customer may need an additional LOMN if required for a different listing.

For your listing to be HSA/FSA Dual-Purpose, you must pay for the LOMN, which is invoiced from Amplife® a month after the date of purchase, and the following year after the date of purchase for renewal.

Visit the pricing page to get the most accurate and detailed information regarding the cost of a LOMN.

It is not required to have your approved Standard Listing be HSA/FSA Dual-Purpose, and you can add or remove this option at any time.

To eliminate the need for a LOMN and the annual costs, your listing must be HSA/FSA Always Eligible.
