Midwest Adaptive Sports is a nonprofit organization dedicated to expanding access to recreational and competitive sports for individuals with disabilities. Through high-quality programming and community engagement, we work to ensure that athletes of all abilities have opportunities to participate, compete, and thrive.
Founded in 2011 to address the need for inclusive sports opportunities in the region, Midwest Adaptive Sports serves the greater Kansas City area and welcomes athletes from across the Midwest. Our home base is at Hy-Vee Arena in Kansas City's West Bottoms district.
We offer year-round programs including wheelchair basketball, wheelchair football, wheelchair rugby, wheelchair softball, wheelchair tennis, snow sports, and water sports. Programs help athletes learn sport-specific skills, improve strength and fitness, build confidence and independence, develop lasting friendships, and compete locally, regionally, and nationally.
In addition to sports programming, Midwest Adaptive Sports partners with schools, community organizations, and healthcare providers to increase awareness of disability inclusion and the power of adaptive sports. We help individuals find their independence, as well as having a close group that help in all other aspects of life.
